Brunnen Gemeinwohl

The process of creating this fountain sculpture begins with a newsletter from the museum and a request in mainstream media to the public. Everyone is invited to send objects of their private use to the artist so that they can become part of a ‘collective sculpture’. This action determines the sculpture’s appearance and is equivalent to its content. The entity of the individual is lost in a traditional symbol of vitality – the fountain.  White water circulates constantly in the newly created body.  Visitors to the museum are invited to take a few drops home as a souvenir,  bottled in plastic vials.  A photo album shows the original objects in their private use.
